PRESS RELEASE

Beloved Community Village Partners with LivWell Enlightened Health

DENVER—October 18, 2017 — The Colorado Village Collaborative – a community organization founded by members of Denver Homeless Out Loud, The Interfaith Alliance of Colorado, Beloved Community Mennonite Church, and residents of the Beloved Community Village – recently launched Denver’s first “tiny home village” as an alternative solution to the problem of homelessness.

LivWell Cares, the philanthropic and community engagement arm of the leading national cannabis company, LivWell Enlightened Health, provided the final donation needed to help close out funding for the project and ensure it was completed debt-free.

Designed to help address the twin crises of homelessness and an extreme housing shortage, Beloved Community Village includes eleven 8-foot by 12-foot shelters, as well as a communal kitchen, bathroom, and shower facilities, on land leased from the Urban Land Conservancy at 38th and Walnut streets. On July 21, fourteen previously homeless residents moved into the new Beloved Community Village, where they have been able to rediscover talents, renew their purpose, and restore their dignity.

“We are extremely grateful to LivWell Cares for stepping up to give us the finances to complete this much-needed project,” said Cole Chandler, organizer for Colorado Village Collaborative. “We need a solution to homelessness beyond shelters, emergency rooms, and jails, and thanks to LivWell Cares, our Beloved Community Village residents can now take back their lives and their dignity.”

“I love my tiny home,” said Sandra Hermans, a resident of Beloved Community Village. “It’s been so encouraging to me to see the community step forward and do something creative about homelessness. All of the residents are extremely grateful to LivWell Cares and our many partners for helping to fund this village.”

“Giving back to the community is part of our company’s DNA,” said John Lord, owner and CEO of LivWell Enlightened Health.

Michael Lord, LivWell Enlightened Health’s Director of Business Development and founder of LivWell Cares, continued: “When I was told about this development, I immediately recognized its potential to help address a serious issue facing our communities. LivWell Cares could not be prouder to be involved in such a worthy project.”

“LivWell Enlightened Health continues to lead by example through its proactive engagement with communities across Colorado,” said Kayvan Khalatbari, a Denver community advocate, local business owner, and 2019 mayoral candidate who was a leader in launching Beloved Community Village. “I hope LivWell Enlightened Health’s action inspires even more companies to involve themselves in projects like Beloved Community Village that are making real, positive impacts for those in need.”
