Most veteran bong tokers know the best way to clean a bong is a 99% isopropyl alcohol and course salt mixture. But, what if you don’t have those ingredients and you’re in a pinch for time? Here is how you can eliminate the majority of the grime from a heavily used bong and add a more pleasant smell before it’s next use.
Step 1: Boil water
Try and use the purest water possible, so using a Brita filter or bottled water is highly recommended. Basically, try and avoid city (chlorinated) or hard (calcium) water sources in your kettle.
Step 2: Add lemon juice to your glass
Ideally, a freshly squeezed lemon will have the most acidic juice to enhance the cleaning of your glass, but a bottle of lemon juice will suffice. If you don’t have any lemon juice or lemons, a lemon based natural cleaner can be a good substitute.
Step 3: Pour the boiling water into your bong
Being careful with the hot water, you’ll want to fill up the bong as much as possible to ensure an even clean.
Step 4: Shake + wait 5 minutes
This will allow the acidity and heat of the solution to get to work at the smell and grime of your bong. And after the solution has cooled down, you can pour it out and give it a quick rinse with lukewarm water.
